D.J. Spice

Rob Colella is an Italian producer of electronic to jazz music, lounge, trip-hop and nubossa and world-music rhythm stuff. He runs an indipendent label called FUNKY JUICE and he is also the artistic/executive producer of the followings artists: BARRIO JAZZ-GANG, Panaphonic, Pauline London, Alacran, Black Bombay, Brother Groove His passion for travel (having touched 4 continents) also led him to love and breathe the atmospheres of the Far East with the scents, flavors and wonderful sounds of the age-old tradition. Falling in love with the most unusual and unknown instruments in Europe, this led him to immerse himself in this work devoted to the sounds of India, Indonesia and Thailand. D.J. SPICE is the alias he use for this project. 

His music in a mirror of his own aspirations, a chance to say what he wants at any given time.His style is in a perpetual driving force maintaining an overall artistic skillful on every stuff he makes. In almost every productions of him you can hear the use of jazz or bossa-beat ,as an integral part of the whole emotional climate. 

Artistically complemented by a mixture of applied samples  and taste, his productions are strongly accented by seductively atmosphere and elegant lounging-style feeling. He was becoming increasingly fascinated by the rhythmic changes of Latin and Afro-cuban grooves,so gradually he tried to develop those rhythms and the jazz ideas into the modern club-music.The combination of ingredients he always using are a substantial element of straight jazz with the electronics unique excursions. The topics of his mucic, displays the rooted character  of a musician who never abandons  his origin showing to be  a dusty-soundtracks addicts and a faithful admirer of brazilian music, warm jazzy atmosphere and lounge refreshing soulful stuff.
