MOON LAGOON

The project Moon Lagoon is the result of the cohesion between the songwriter method and the country-folk texture, brought back from oversea. Matteo Sperandio, violinist and singer, and Marialuna Cipolla, guitarist and singer, start their collaboration in June 2017, writing few original songs in English; the lyrics come at a later time, outlining the distinctive topics of the album. The consecutive procedure is the one that is classic in every musical project: chosing the coolest coworker (Massimo Colabella – lead guitar, Matteo Fabrizi – bass, Fabio D’Isanto and Saverio Federici – drums and percussions), selecting the best songs and looking for a title to enshrine their personality.

Marialuna Cipolla is a twenty-six years old songwriter from Terni (Umbria, Italy). Living in a music-oriented environment, she soon becomes interested in studying acoustic guitar. She starts writing her own songs at a very young age to give a voice and a story to the characters of a friend’s tales; together, they’ll lay the foundations of their first band, Backlight, with which she’ll start playing live in local pubs and events. In 2013, the first album of the band is released: its name is Walkin’ Aside and it includes 12 original songs written in English. Later, Marialuna joins a contest announced by the film’s director Gabriele Salvatores with an original named Wrong Skin: the song is chosen and included in the movie Il Ragazzo Invisibile (The Invisible Boy), played at cinemas in December 2014. Thanks to this experience, she will be hosted in several TV and radio programs, just as Xfactor Italia and Radio Deejay; she will open a Tommy Emmanuel and Dodi Battaglia’s concert and she will play her music in Rome, Lucca, Milan and the Noir Film Festival in Courmayeur. In 2015, she receives a nomination for the best original song in the cinematographic award “David di Donatello”. In the years, she keeps writing song for a few short films and for a theatrical piece, while she starts coming closer to bossa nova and jazz music; she collaborates as musician and singer in some musical situations, such as the Terni Jazz Orchestra, the acoustic duo Dada Moon, the Orchestra Magna and the girl trio named Hanami. In 2017 she meets Matteo Sperandio and they start their collaboration as Moon Lagoon, writing together for the creation of Chest of Serenades, a new original album.

In 2020 she is conctacted by Filippo Timi and she takes part in a TV program named SKIANTO, broadcasted on Rai 3, with Raphael Gualazzi as artistic director.
