He began studying percussion at the age of 12 with the help of the American percussionist Karl Potter. In 1981 he joined the Salsa Yemaya music orchestra. Again with Yemaya, in 1984 he was called to represent Italy at the 1st international Latin American music festival in Nicaragua. He subsequently went to Cuba where he had the opportunity to play and study with the best percussionist masters of those places (Los Papines, Carlos Aldama, Changuito…). In 1986 he went to Colombia where he stayed for a few months playing with the best local Salsa groups.
Once back in Italy he resumes collaborating with Karl Potter in teaching percussion and begins collaborations in the field of Afro-Cuban dance with Bob Curtis, Oumar Kamara and others. In 1988, together with the American singer Joy Garrison, he founded the Fujala group with which he performed in the most prestigious clubs and festivals in Italy and abroad. In the field of jazz music he has played with musicians of the caliber of Paquito D’Rivera, Hilton Ruiz, Danilo Pérez, Randy Brecker, Tony Scott, Massimo Urbani, Tom Sinatra, Javier Girotto, Stefano Di Battista, Matthew Garrison, Rosario Giuliani, Marcello Rose. In 1990 he began collaborating with RAI as a percussionist in numerous radio and television programs (DOC, Scommetto Che, Fantastica Italiana, Domenica In, Sanremo Jazz, I Fatti Vostri, Amore Mio etc.) playing in the Orchestra under the direction of masters such as G Ferrio, T. Savio, G. Mazza, M. De Sica, P. Pirazzoli, L. de Amicis.
