Mosaic At The Opera (Lucio Cillis)

Composer | Multi-instrumentalist | Producer

About

It all began in 1976 with the Ramones’ debut album, the spark that ignited his passion for playing music. In 1978 Lucio made his debut with Trancefusion, one of the first Italian punk bands.

In 1979 came the international breakthrough: he joined Evelyne Lenton& Belle Epoque, key players in European Disco. With them, Lucio performed in TV shows and festivals, sharing the stage with artists such as Patrick Hernandez, Rockets, and Gloria Gaynor.

In 1980, he experienced one of his career highlights: as guitarist for Raff, he opened the Ramones’ concert in Rome — one of the most iconic live shows in rock history.

In 1982, during the Italian tour of Siouxsie and the Banshees, he met Siouxsie Sioux and Robert Smith, and attended a legendary private party in Rome. Shortly after, he performed at the Mattatoio in the Eternal City alongside Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group).

In 1983, he joined Kaos Rock with Jo Squillo, then with Sharm Band composed film scores, including the soundtrack for I giornirandagi (1987).

In 1990, with FH Process (Lucio on synths and Saharo Sorba on sax), he launched FreeHouse, the very first free house track, released by Gazebo’s label.

Since 2009, he has developed the nu-jazz project Mosaic At The Opera, debuting with the album Aroma Tropical, warmly received in Asia. Between 2013 and 2018, he performed live parodies of historic hits with GliEconomisti, a successful musical experiment featuring two shows at Rome’s Auditorium and dozens of live-web mini acts on Repubblica.it.

In 2014, he appeared as guest guitarist with Gabriele Ciampi’s orchestra, again at the Auditorium.

In 2025, Lucio presents three new projects:

  1. Mosaic At The Opera – Asian Voyage EP (release October 3).
  2. Getibonage, his dark electronic debut.
  3. Newclassical-dark soundtracks for film and streaming.
