Cuban Jazz Combo
Mambostar

Cuban Jazz Combo is the result of the exchange of musical experiences of the two founders, Riccardo Cundari (bassist) and Fabrizio Aiello (percussionist). The two composers and arrangers found themselves sharing this experience in a very natural way, regardless of their culture of origin, avoiding “canonizing” the work, leaving free space for spontaneity.

Cuban Jazz Combo is the result of the exchange of musical experiences of the two founders, Riccardo Cundari (bassist) and Fabrizio Aiello (percussionist). For years, together and individually, they have worked in extremely heterogeneous musical environments, finding themselves in harmony with them and demonstrating a profound musical elasticity and great versatility. These different experiences have greatly enriched their cultural background. The mix was thus created, sharing the ideas and musical experiences of each with an eye, however, to the Latin jazz sounds, particularly “felt” by the two musicians, without, however, wanting to be too complicated or cerebral. Their intent remains that of making a danceable and quality Latin-jazz.
The spirit and sound of the Afro-Cuban tradition together with jazz create in all their works, a special and unique sound. A lot of care has been taken in creating sounds with a retro flavor, sixties and seventies style, very close to the blue note sound of the time. Furthermore, the combo is supported by excellent musicians of the Italian scene including: Elvio Ghiogliordini on the flute, Aldo Bassi on the trumpet, Gianni Savelli on the sax, Paolo Yurich on the piano.
Live they have an irresistible set with many Cuban and South American percussions and with a set of very powerful wind instruments to dominate.
In the summer of 2007 their debut album was released: “Mambostar” with the famous singer Joy Garrison as guest on truly effervescent covers such as: “Evil ways” in latin-jazz version and “I believe in you” a 60s standard brought to success by the famous Nancy Wilson!
