To celebrate their 10th year together, Italian nu-jazz aces Barrio Jazz Gang have put together this Remix compilation on Funky Juice.
This collection contains all the band’s best released remixes plus some obscure gems never released before or in very limited copies. Pauline London’s best songs are here selected from her first CD including the rare track: “Bewitched” produced and remixed by Barrio Jazz Gang. She also featured “Fly in the sky” here reconstructed and revisited with a truly catchy up-tempo nujazz intention for the dancefloor. Also “Maybe Yesterday” has an irresistible club-jazz beat. Minus 8 remixes one of their best tracks called “Nude Look” from their second CD, twisting it with an electro-Balearic beat.
Barrio Jazz Gang responds by remixing one of the best tracks from Minus 8: “Let it go”, here it is a cool and very chill midtempo
One of the best surprises is the remix by Steve Martinez of the most famous track from Barrio Jazz Gang called: “Chok-a-blok-avenue”. There is also the remix by Roby of a very rare jazz-house version of “Bellavista”, released only on vinyl.
The 2 two Tracks from Dinamic 4 are simply amazing and still very current. “Sunday Show” is characterized by Eddie Henderson’s trumpet and the team here did a great job on this track.
“I believe in you” by Cuban Jazz Combo is completely re-arranged to give Joy Garrison’s voice a new Look with a great appeal for the dancefloor.
