The trio is inspired by the sounds and rhythms of South America, by the Amazonian landscapes and by the shining tropical beaches. By the atmosphere of the neighborhoods of Rio and Bahia, by the carnival and the smiles of the people. By the enveloping festive air that reigns throughout the country and by the infinite musical and artistic tradition that such an immense country has been able to offer and still offers.
The group formed by Mauro Andreoni: electric piano – GiGi Zito: drums and Piero Simoncini: Double bass, has recently finished recording their first album “Rimini-samba” published by REgroovable jazz, a Roman sublabel of Funky juice rec.
After many individual experiences consolidated as session-men, in the context of the Italian pop and jazz scene, they come to this project with great enthusiasm, feeling and interplay. They break away from the usual mannered and cerebral Italian jazz and listen to exotic melodies and refined arrangements.
The sounds of bossa-nova and samba-jazz color all their songs composed and arranged by Mauro Andreoni (pianist) produced by Roby Colella (boss of the label) and Pierluigi Zito (drummer of the group). Their natural inclination to the Brazilian and jazz repertoire mixed with the creative force that comes from their Mediterranean melodies, creates a particular and original sound, so much so that the songs seem like Brazilian standards with a completely Italian singability. Another aspect to remember is the refinement of the sounds, vintage style with sounds from the sixties and seventies and inspired by the now legendary Italian soundtracks of those years. Also of great importance are the wind players who participate in the sessions that make the material even more refined and warm, with their sensitivity and creativity. –
Brazilian music is full of passion, feeling and joy and is the result of a melting pot of Portuguese and African traditions mixed with the tribal civilization of the Native Indians. All this has contributed to creating something unique in the world, magical and mystical at the same time and infinitely captivating. Both in rhythms and in harmonies and melodies, Brazilian music is still unsurpassed for expressiveness, warmth, joy and transport. Os Morcegos in this album have built in the joy and in the festive atmosphere, a material that strikes at first listening for precision, passion and immediacy both in the composition and in the refined arrangement. Ultimately a Music that makes you dream, breathe new and fresh air and gives hope for the future………long live bossa-nova and samba-jazz! ! ! !
